Dunia Etura, professor of the UVa, Clara Campoamor Prize for her doctoral dissertation “From wives to citizenships: women in Informe Semanal (Weekly Report) program during the democratic transition (1839-1979).
The jury of the Clara Campoamor Prize for her doctoral dissertations in humanities, legal and social sciences have agreed unanimously to give the prize to the professor of Journalism areas of the University of Valladolid Dunia Etura Hernández for her doctoral dissertation “From wives to citizenships: women in Informe Semanal (Weekly Report) program during the democratic transition (1973-1979)”, directed by the professor of the UVa Virginia Martín Jiménez.
This award is announced by the Political and Constitutional Studies Center, which depends on the Ministry of Presidency, Relationships with the Spanish Parliament and Equality, to recognize the best doctoral dissertations in Humanities, Legal or Social science which talk about issues related to equality.
Clara Campoamor (Madrid 1888-Lausanne 1972) was a layer, writer, politician, and defender of the Spanish women´s rights. Due to the Civil War, she had to escape from Spain and finally, she died exiled in Switzerland.
In the decision of this year, besides the prize to Dunia Etura, the jury agreed also to give an honorary award to the Marta Cintas Peña´s doctoral dissertation, “The Gender inequality in the Iberian prehistory: a multi-variable approach, directed by Leonardo García Sanjuán.
