The University of Valladolid assigns the City Hall of Tábara a copy of the edition Beato of Valcavado

The Chancellor of the University of Valladolid, Antonio Largo Cabrerizo, and the Major of Tárbara in Zamora, Antonio Juárez Núñez, have signed an agreement on Thursday, the 9th of January, for which the UVa assigns a copy of the edition Beato of Valcavado published in 1993 for its exhibition in the Beatus Exhibition Center.

The Beatus Exhibition Center is open to public since the year 2010 in the evocative space of the Church of Santa María, declared as good of cultural interest, since it was in the Scriptorium of Tábara where some of the most important codices from the High Middle Ages were elaborated and conserved.

The Beato of Valcavado, considered one of the best-conserved codices, was asked to be written by Sempronío, abbot of the Monastery of Valcavado, located in the area of Saldaña in Palencia in the year 970. A monk called Oveco copied it; he worked with diligence because he carried out his work in only 92 days. Until the 16th Century, it remained in the Church of Valcavado, and, after that, it traveled to Leon, where it was compared with the Beato of Fernando I and Sancha, to Toledo, Madrid, and finally, to the School of San Ambrosio of the Society of Jesus in Valladolid, in which it remained until the expulsion of the Jesuits in 1767. It passed to form part of the Library of the University of Valladolid, and in the mid- 19th Century, it was incorporated to the University Colegio Santa Cruz, and integrated with the own funds of the popular library.

The signature of the assignment agreement has taken place in the Palace of Santa Cruz, headquarters of the Chancellor Office of the University of Valladolid, and the Chancellor has been accompanied by the director of the University Extension area, Carmen Herrero, and by the professor of Commercial Law Luis Velasco. On their behalf, the Councilors Agustín Villalón and Francisco Gutiérrez have attended to the event along with the Major of Tábara.
